SAILRACE
SAILRACE is a full-featured
Regatta and Race Series scoring program. It scores PHRF, Portsmouth,
Time-on-Time PHRF and level one design races. It can handle up to 120
skippers for 24 races in any one class. All penalties are fully configurable
by the user. It handles throw-outs and has a tie-breaking procedure
following that in the racing rules. Release #8, the current release,
scores by low point scoring, however, Release #9, due out this Spring,
will handle low point, high point, Olympic, and high point average scoring.
Sailrace was written by someone who is not a professional programmer,
but who has spent a great deal of time on the water both as a racer
and as a race officer, and is written to be as easy as possible for
the race officer to use.
In addition, it
has a modest "mailing list" capability for maintaining names
and other skipper information. It is in use, literally, around the globe,
being used (to the author's knowledge) in England, Scotland, Germany,
Australia, Canada and the U.S. SAILRACE is freeware - there is no registration
fee required or requested - it is not a limited capacity demonstration
program. The full program is free to anyone who thinks it might be of
benefit.
Available on Compuserve

, and on the
World Wide Web at three sites maintained by Peter Bennett.
